Rope Pull Switches

Rope pull switches, also called cable pull switches, are high-performance emergency stop switches designed to shut down operations and machines in hazardous environments. These switches consist of a tensioned rope or cable that cuts off the power to the machinery when pulled. A rope pull switch can be pulled at any point along its length and features a reset knob for deliberate restarting. Safety rope full switches are essential in protecting personnel and preventing equipment damage. They are strategically placed near the machinery where quick access to an emergency stop is critical.

Why Buy Safety Rope Pull Switches?

Grab wire switches provide a reliable and easily accessible means of stopping equipment in emergencies, preventing accidents and injuries. Unlike traditional emergency buttons, rope pull switches offer a greater degree of flexibility and feature LED indicators for clear visibility and status indications. Cable pull switches are significant for large or complex machinery where a fixed button might be out of reach in a critical situation. Investing in high-quality rope pull switches demonstrates a commitment to workplace safety and helps minimise the potential for costly downtime and legal liabilities.

Lifeline 4 Rope Pull Switch The Lifeline 4 rope pull switch, also known as a cable pull switch or grab wire switch, can be installed along or around awkward machinery such as conveyors and provides constant emergency stop access. The positive mode mechanism helps ensure that the contacts are immediately latched open on actuation and can only be reset by the intentional action of turning the blue reset knob. The design of this safety switch also protects against nuisance tripping and the effects of thermal expansion. A mushroom head emergency stop button is included on the Lifeline 4 to provide E-Stop access even at the extreme ends of the span. The cable status indicator makes this rope pull switch easy to set up and maintain for spans up to 125m. IDEM Guardian Line GLM Mini Safety Rope Pull Switches The Guardian Line GLM from IDEM are safety rope pull switches with a compact yet robust yellow diecast housing that protect short conveyor lengths of upto 50m and offer a choice of fittings depending on the application. They are designed to be mounted on machines and sections of conveyors which cannot be protected by guards and unlike emergency stop pushbuttons can be activated from any point along the length of rope pull to provide robust emergency stop protection. In combination with a dual channel safety monitoring relay these safety rope switches can be used as emergency stop devices and monitored for up to Category 4 to EN 954-1 or PLe ISO 13849-1. The Guardian Line conforms to ISO 13850 and IEC 60947-5-5 and has a positive mechanical linkage between the switch contacts and the wire rope, as well as wire breakage monitoring. Once the rope is pulled, anywhere along its length, the safety contacts are positively opened and the auxiliary contacts are closed. The switches are mechanically latched and can only be returned to the operational condition by pressing the blue reset button, as required by ISO 13950. Switch mechanism will latch the instant the safety contacts open, ISO13850 standard Upto 30m can be covered using a single switch Upto 50m can be covered using two switches Positive break contacts to IEC60947-5-1 Robust yellow diecast housing IP67 protection Rugged integral sealing bellows mean they can be high pressure hosed All internal screws are stainless steel Easy to wire with 3 x M20 conduit entries 4 pole, either 3NC / 1NO or 2NC / 2NO Note 826-4101 & 826-4104 have an E-stop and LED. Telemecanique XY2CE & XY2CB Emergency Stop Rope Pull Switches These emergency stop trip wire switches are designed to reduce the risk of injury to persons and damage either to machines or work in progress. They can be tripped by a single human action when a normal emergency stop function is not available and will also trip in the event of the trip wire breaking. Switches incorporate positive opening operation contacts, the tripping of the switch being made with positive action The switch latches in the tripped position (N/C safety contact(s) open). The function of the N/O contact is purely for signalling Incorporates a reset button, which re-closes the safety contact(s), restarting of the machine must only be achieved by manual operation of a control device within the machine start circuit, remote to the trip wire switch Recommended distance between cable supports is 15m (for model XY2-CB30 a distance of 20m is recommended) The XY2 CE1A296 comes with a pilot light (direct supply) Note The XY2 CB switch must not be used if the installation requires that the trip wire be angled but the XY2 CE switch can. In this case, the total sum of the angles through which the trip wire bends must not exceed 180°. Standards EN/ISO 13850:2006
