Buffer & Line Driver Combinations
Buffers and line driver combinations are IC (integrated circuit) components designed to isolate the input circuit from the output circuit, allowing it to transmit signals for longer distances. Each input puts a capacitive load on the line driver, where the higher capacitance maximises the amount of current for voltage conversion from one level to another. The output controls this surge in capacitance, which otherwise can affect the circuit performance.
What are line drivers?
Line drivers are specialised buffers designed to drive a lengthy transmission line or cables. They modify the input logic format to a particular line driver form and consist of an equalizer and a filter. These components compensate for signal losses and distortions within physical media such as cables or PCB tracks to present the precise signal format to the receiver.
