Crimp Contacts

What are Crimp Contacts?

Crimp contacts are one of the key component parts of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Contacts are electrical components that are made from a conductive material. When two contacts come together, they can pass an electrical current between them. Contacts are frequently employed to configure the circuits on a printed circuit board with the help of conducting electrical current directed from the connector to the printed circuit board. These connectors are frequently embedded in a printed circuit board connector casing; usually, several connectors are installed on the spot.

How are crimp contacts used?

In order to generate circuits with the help of general printed circuit board applications, crimp connections are being used in various applications. Normally, these components are connected to a wire or cable to produce many connections. The crimping method is used to terminate crimp connections. A crimp is significant at the place where the wire and cable stay connected with the help of compression and reshaping. The most commonly used crimp techniques to perform outstandingly offer a robust and strong connection. Moreover, crimping is incorporated, and there has been directed use of a quality crimp tool to enable robust and secure connections across the nodes. Crimp connections make connections among the wires that are compatible in sizes and shapes. Normally these sorts of wires are measured with AWG standard or mm2.

What are crimps made from?

Crimps are composed of a range of different materials that include plated and many more, such as bronze, copper, and gold. The conductance and quality of connections vary because of the materials contained. Most contacts are made of plated silver or gold to make a connection robust, reliable, and fault tolerant.

What is the contact gender?

Assorted genders are available in Crimps. Here, contacts are divided into two types of the female connector and the male connector, which are normally referred to as socket and pin or plug, respectively.

Where are crimp connectors used?

Crimps offer a technique for printed circuit board connectors to link with. They are widely installed to enable PCB sockets and printed circuit board prototyping for general use. The printed circuit board is made in such a way that it must be mounted on the component. These contacts are being used to make connections between electrical components. Many electronic applications comprising these contacts, including household and industrial appliances and information and communication technology, also make use of these connectors, as do medical, automation, and control systems.

Crimp Two Piece Contacts Note To maintain IP67 rating wire insulation diameters should be within the following diameters: Signal wires: 1.7-2.7mm Power wires: 2.7-4mm. Use plier or ratchet style tool to crimp signal contacts. Use ratchet tool only to crimp power contacts. ITT TNM Shielded The TNM connector range builds on the popular Trident and Neptune ranges from ITT Cannon. They feature full metal construction giving high reliability and durability. RF shielding inherent in the full metal construction Backshells enable cable braid termination so meeting EMC requirements Signal versions have the same planform & contact arrangements as the QM range so upgrading and interchangeability can be achieved Includes a rear rubber seal that enables IP67 rating to be maintained if only some contacts are used. The rubber seal can be discarded if a backshell is to be used. Both are rated to IP67 Cable, chassis and jam nut configurations available in standard and reversed formats One, two or three part crimp contacts, also solder cup and PCB terminating contacts available for signal transfer.
