Bus Transceivers
Bus transceivers are logic integrated circuit types designed to provide compatibility with various bus systems by flowing electronic information between two points. These bus transceivers are compatible with bidirectional interface circuits’ input and output. They come in both inverting and non-inverting configurations. In addition, these devices are widely suitable for memory interface applications and systems.
What are the types of bus transceivers?
These transceivers are classified into several types based on state outputs, such as:
- Quadruple inverting (3 state outputs)
- Quadruple non-inverting (3 state outputs)

- Octal non-inverting (3 state outputs)

The Renesas Electronics octal transceiver with non-inverting open drain bus compatible outputs in both send and receive directions. The B bus outputs are capable of sinking 64mA providing very good capacitive drive characteristics. These octal bus transceivers are designed for asynchronous two-way communication between data buses. The control function implementation allows for maximum flexibility in timing.

The Renesas Electronics 16-bit transceiver is built using advanced dual metal CMOS technology. These high-speed, low-power transceivers are ideal for synchronous communication between two buses. The direction and output enable controls operate these devices as either two independent 8-bit transceivers or one 16-bit transceiver. The direction control pin controls the direction of data flow. The output enable pin overrides the direction control and disables both ports. All inputs are designed with hysteresis for improved noise margin.
