Showing Results For: Linear Voltage Regulators
Linear voltage regulators are simple voltage regulator circuits designed to compare and maintain a steady constant output voltage with a precise reference voltage. These devices are comprised of resistors and diodes to maintain a steady voltage along their terminals. These devices are step-down converters; they keep the output voltage lower than the input. Some linear voltage types include regulators with the capacity to regulate voltage while the power supply voltage is close to the supply voltage.
For the maintenance of constant voltage across output terminals, the linear voltage regulators use a feedback loop (closed). They feature negative-feedback controlled transistors for generating specialized output voltages that remain stable, avoiding any fluctuations in input voltages and load currents.
Linear voltage regulators offer various advantages. They are typically highly integrated, easy to use, have low input noise, and are low-cost with maximum flexibility. Furthermore, they offer less noise output than other regulators.
There are two types of linear voltage regulators based on the connection load: Series regulator and Shunt regulator.
These regulators are mostly found in a wide variety of applications and multiple devices, such as:
