RF Terminators

RF (Radio Frequency) terminators are electrically RF port terminating devices designed to match the cable’s surge impedance and minimise power loss and signal reflection. These terminators are kept at the transmission line’s end to prevent RF signal reflections. Furthermore, these devices are suited for coaxial faceplates or unused tap ports at homes that affect their performance by generating entry and exit routes. In addition, they come in various power ratings and sizes for compatibility.

How Do RF Terminators Perform their Work?

Radio Frequency terminators work by preventing the signal’s reflection by absorbing a signal’s electrical energy triggered by cable ends. This reduces the noise generation and ensures a smooth current flow from device to device.

RF Terminator Types

RF terminations are classified into three major types and include:

Coaxial RF Terminations- designed to terminate coaxial ports.
Waveguide RF Terminations- used to terminate waveguide ports.
Chip RF Terminations- feature an IC chip form factor to terminate ports in RF circuits.

What are the Applications of RF Terminators?

RF terminators are mainly used to manage high-power signals and high-frequency circuits and systems.
They are also ideal for closing open terminations that trigger parasitic signal entrance into the circuit, like at a T-Junction.
