DIL Sockets

DIL sockets stand for dual in-line sockets and are integrated circuit equipment embedded in all sorts of emerging electrical devices. Rectangular housing usually accommodates two rows of pins set. The reason is that all the sockets are embedded with a different number of pins to be compatible with the desired integrated circuit. Dual line-in sockets are being used in a wide variety of applications to automate and control manual operations, as was done before the advent of these technologies, such as MRI machines and lifts.

What are the Common Types of Dual Inline Sockets? 

The Pin Contacts make electrical connections that are comprised of two primary types; these types are turned pin and dual leaf. The turned pin further has dual inline sockets that taper entry and ensure contacts have four points. The connection that it produces is very reliable, robust, and bears all sorts of voltages, such as higher, lower, and medium current. Dual leaf sockets consist of a design that is very simple to automate machine insertion. The tapering entry of turned pin Dual inline sockets allows for four points of contact. Due to their ability to withstand larger voltages and currents, they provide a more dependable electrical connection. For automatic machine insertion, dual leaf sockets offer a more straightforward design.

How to Choose the Right DIL Socket?

Dual in-line sockets are usually connected to the printed circuit board by using a through-hole mounted or inserted into a socket. The through-hole mounting technique is very important and is typically the lead used for insertion through the holes in the circuit board and soldered from the inside. Sockets are being used in the industry to make the configuration easy since the socket is the integrated circuit that embeds all the equipment as a standalone. Moreover, sockets mitigate the risk and damage of overheating, so this has happened whilst soldering.

RS PRO Screw Machine IC Socket The RS PRO screw machine IC pin socket has a pitch of 2.54mm, length of 17.78mm, a width of 10.16mm and depth of 3mm. It has a current rating of 3A and voltage rating of 60VAC/VDC. The socket features solid, precision turned sleeves with a closed bottom design to eliminate flux intrusion and solder wicking during soldering. The stamped spring copper insert provides an excellent connection and allows repeated insertion and withdrawals. The insulators are moulded of high temp thermoplastic. The inner contact has gold flash over nickel plating and the outer sleeve has tin over nickel plating.
