The Festo SIEH-M18B-NS-K-L is an inductive proximity sensor that detects metal objects without physical contact. It is created for everyday industrial automation tasks that require simple, reliable object detection. With an M18 threaded barrel and an 8 mm sensing distance, it fits easily into standard mounting positions on machines, conveyors, and fixtures. This sensor operates on a 10 to 30 V DC supply and uses an NPN normally open output, making it suitable for common PLC and control system inputs.
Inductive sensors like this one detect metal targets by generating an electromagnetic field at the sensing face. When a metal object enters that field, the sensor switches its output. There is no contact, no wear, and no mechanical movement, which makes it reliable for continuous operation.
