It comprises 47 different pieces, which can be used separately or in combination to determine the exact distances between surfaces. Each gauge block is made from high-quality steel, which has been heat-treated for hardness and durability. Their surfaces have also gone through an ultra-micro-lapping process to give the incredibly flat, smooth finish that's necessary for fitting blocks together as closely as possible – a method known as 'wringing'. The blocks come in a fitted wooden case. Each set has a UKA 5 point calibration certificate and the heat-treatment process for the steel is certified HRC65/HV820. These gauge block sets are used to calibrate engineering equipment and other measuring devices, and for fine machining applications in manufacturing or construction settings.
