Thread Repair Inserts

Threaded inserts, also known as threaded bushings, are stainless steel inserts that have been designed to add or repair a threaded hole. These inserts are used to repair broken threads, even from a machine bed to an engine manifold. They are designed with a cross-sectional diamond-shaped pattern and wound in the shape of a spring thread. For easy installation, the inserts are designed to be larger in diameter than the tapped hole and to compress. They give a wear-resistant and long-lasting thread in the parent material that is generally stronger than the original.

Enrgtech offers a selection of excellent thread repair inserts from leading brands, including RS PRO, Bollhoff, Recoil, Calmoc by Alcoa, and Keenserts. These fastenings come in a variety of thread sizes, drill sizes, and thread lengths to suit every repair application you need.

How to Install it?

It is just a simple process to install it. First, by simply drilling out the previous damaged thread, and tamping the hole with the tapping tool to match the size of the bolt. Then, using the insert tool, screw in the threaded insert and finally break off the tangs. In addition, it is pertinent to remove the tool and sit back on top of the tang. Tap down sharply and avoid twisting the tang off.

Types:

They come in free-running inserts, locking inserts that provide a locking function, and others such as Metric, UNF, and UNC threads.

Features and Advantages:

These repair inserts offer a variety of unique features and advantages. The key features of these inserts include their sizes, thread lengths, and locking torque. However, other features and benefits are given below.

  • They are a set of inserts with both (inner and outer threads, and due to the spring effect, contract close to the slot and slightly inwards, which locks the screw.
  • They are made of galvanized steel for a long life expectancy.
  • They offer a firm grip with a spring effect.
  • They have cutting slots for easy repair.
  • They have a high level of wear resistance.
  • A specific set of installation tools ensures that each insert is installed quickly, easily, and securely.
  • They are provided with notches where the protruding insert keys fit to enable effective winding in of the insert.
  • Drilling and tapping can be done without any specialist equipment; just standard drills and taps can do the job.

Applications:

Generally, they are designed for use in the repair of stripped thread holes. However, equipped with a cutting slot, they are also suitable for most applications.

  • Thread inserts are used in automotive applications.
  • They are used in industrial and consumer electronics.
  • They are used in aerospace, shipbuilding, defense, power generation, and transport.
  • They are used to fix a stripped bolt or screw thread.
  • They are used to install a strong and permanent threaded hole in materials such as metals, composites, and wood.

Conclusion:

We have a wide range of tools available in lightweight and heavy-duty versions. Even if the task is one of repair, maintenance, or assembly, Enrgtech has the stock of thread repair inserts according to your needs.

Keenserts Inserts The range of KEENSERTS® installation tools ensure quick, easy and secure installation of each insert. Each tool has notches where the protruding insert keys fit to enable effective winding in of the insert. Once the insert is fully wound in, the tool can be pulled back and turned 45 degrees, so the keys are situated between the notches, and driven down through the threads of the parent material, mechanically locking it into place. Drilling and tapping can be done without any specialist equipment, just standard drills and taps. Manufactured from stainless steel Suitable for use in alloys, light materials, steel and cast iron to increase the strength of the thread in these materials In thread repair use, the defect thread can be replaced with the same nominal diameter Significantly increases load capability in weaker materials Special keys lock the Keensert into place eliminating rotation Easy to install no special taps required and no tangs to remove High resistance to torque out and pull out Camloc Inserts & Tools available in lightweight & heavy duty versions KEENSERTS® stainless steel inserts and studs provide strong, permanent metal threads in a range of metals, including ferrous and non-ferrous.
