Mains test blocks are designed to provide a temporary power hub and machinery testing blocks to protect equipment from damage in the event of faulty wires or currents. These are the blocks where mains-powered devices are kept to test the equipment and the current or voltage levels without breaking the current supply. These devices are beneficial due to their make-before-break working principle, which does not require switching for manual processes. 

How Do the Mains Test Blocks Work?

These test blocks work in a significantly simpler way. When the power lid cover is opened, the power disconnects, allowing secure connection of device cables via a color-coded spring piano key. Close the lid to complete the circuit between the device under test and the power supply, powering the device. In addition, for ease of live identification, various mains test connectors are available that feature neon indicator lamps for lamination purposes when the lids close.

Electronics Main Test Block The Electronics mains test block has a 13A fuse with 2m cable for the Euro plug. This connector is the quicktest QT1 made from a tough impact-resistant, flame-retardant plastic. When the lid is open, the wires of the plugless lead can be inserted into the insulated clips. The insulated clips are colour coded for easy identification. Once the lid is closed, current passes to the equipment being tested. A neon light illuminates when the connector is live and ready to use. Warning: Customers are advised to refer to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, with particular attention to regulation 10 (connections) before using these products. These test connectors are not suitable for making mains connections to equipment in domestic use as defined in the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations, 1989.
