Flow Sensors & Indicators

Flow Sensors & Indicators are critical components in various industries and applications that require accurate and reliable measurements of fluid flow rates. These sensors and indicators measure the flow of liquids and gases in pipes, tubing, and other conduits. They help ensure that processes are running smoothly and efficiently while also detecting any abnormalities that may indicate a problem in the system.

Types of Flow Sensors:

There are several types of flow sensors, including:

  • Differential Pressure Flow Sensors - These sensors measure the pressure difference between two points in the flow system and use this information to calculate the flow rate.
  • Turbine Flow Sensors - These sensors use a rotor with blades that rotate as fluid flows through the system. The rotation speed is proportional to the flow rate.
  • Electromagnetic Flow Sensors - These sensors use Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction to estimate the flow rate of conductive fluids.
  • Ultrasonic Flow Sensors - These sensors use ultrasonic waves to measure the velocity of the fluid in the pipe and calculate the flow rate.

Applications of Flow Sensors:

Flow sensors are used in various applications across many industries, including:

  • Industrial Processes - Flow sensors are used in industrial processes such as chemical processing, water treatment, and power generation to ensure the flow rates of liquids and gases are within acceptable limits.
  • HVAC Systems - Flow sensors are used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to monitor airflow and ensure proper circulation.
  • Automotive Industry - Flow sensors are used in automotive systems such as fuel injection and exhaust gas recirculation systems to monitor flow rates and ensure proper operation.
  • Medical Industry - Flow sensors are used in medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, anesthesia machines, and respiratory therapy equipment to monitor and control the flow of gases.

Types of Flow Indicators:

Flow indicators are devices that visually indicate fluid flow through a system. There are several types of flow indicators, including:

  • Rotameters - These devices use a tapered tube with a float that rises as fluid flows through the system.
  • Sight Glasses - These devices use a transparent window to allow operators to visually inspect a fluid flow.
  • Flow Switches - These devices are used to detect the presence or absence of flow and can be used to trigger alarms or other actions.

Applications of Flow Indicators:

Flow indicators are used in many of the same applications as flow sensors, including industrial processes, HVAC systems, automotive systems, and medical equipment. They visually indicate fluid flow through the system, allowing operators to quickly identify any abnormalities or issues.

Amplified Airflow Sensor AWM40000 Series The AWM40000 Series mass flow sensor family is based on proven microbridge technology and includes both amplified signal conditioned devices and unamplified sensor only devices. When using the unamplified devices (AWM42150VH and AWM42300V), the heater control circuit and the sensing bridge supply circuit are both required for operation per specification. These two circuits are NOT on board the sensor and must be supplied in the application. The differential amplifier circuitry is useful in providing output gain and/or introducing voltage offsets to the sensor output. The amplified devices (AWM43300V and AWM43600V) can be used to increase output gain and introduce voltage offsets. The differential instrumentation amplifier circuitry, heater control circuitry and sensing bridge supply circuitry are all provided onboard the amplified sensors. Features and Benefits • Manifold mount/o-ring sealed • Ceramic flow tube (non-outgassing), 0 to 1000 sccm • High common mode pressure (150 psi ceramic flow tube only) • Operating temperature up to 125°C • High stability at null and full scale Product Application Information • Damper control for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems • Gas analysers • Low vacuum control • Process control • Medical respirators and ventilators • Oxygen concentrators • Leak detection equipment • Vent hoods ...
