It works as expected and I use it for hand carving tools. Diamond tipped Dremel engraving equipment will be thin. It cuts better than what is included with this engraver. It is lighter and smaller than the Dremel rotary tool, but the plastic is the same or similar. Strokes per minute works as described and the draw depth can also be adjusted depending on the height you are using the tool, the bit (like a diamond bit) and the number of passes you are making. Small signs are easy, making beautiful glasses is more difficult and requires more skill, but I don't use them. After some testing on some parts to get a feel for it, I'm good to go. I'm happy with the results of the device, but my handwriting isn't very satisfying. The equipment works well. The price is good, Dremel is a well known brand and you can buy it in most hardware stores. I couldn't find a diamond bit at my local hardware store, so I ordered one from Enrgtech's engraver. good tool
