The TMF8821-1AM from ams OSRAM is a direct time-of-flight (dToF) optical sensor module designed for precision distance measurement in tight form factors. The push-pull output (digital) variant supports intelligent system integration when accurate proximity detection, presence sensing, or object tracking is required. The device utilises SPAD and TDC histogram technology integrated with a VCSEL emitter, enabling fast, reliable detection even under ambient light conditions.
The TMF8821-1AM is designed to deliver stable and accurate distance data across its full range, supporting enabling features like multi-object detection, configurable zones, and on-chip processing of histograms to deliver confidence metrics.
