Overall this box has a solid feel. The split top piece lid is thin enough to flex noticeably, but I wouldn't worry about breaking it using it as a stool. Compared to most boxes with segmented tops with broken plastic lids, I like the Flex. The metal button on the trash can is easy to close securely. I hope they will last as long as the box itself. The flexible lid for the segmented top mentioned above does not close reliably. It has been closed so far, but hopefully it will be the first time. I don't believe it will work because it doesn't work anymore. But if the box is used every day, the latch wears out and no longer closes. The barrel hinge runs almost the full length of the case, is an inch shorter at each end, and features metal pins, likely stainless steel. The segmented top has four plastic pegs that act as hinges. Overall, it's a great device. If you are looking for a large foundation with cross sections, this may be what you need. The box is sturdy except for the top lid, but even that is strong enough for home use. If I were to change anything in the new model, it would ditch the long hand and use more space, better thought out subdivisions. Now I decided to buy two drawer boxes from the same set, but I haven't bought one yet because I don't need it now. I would buy this set again for a family friend. During my research, I found another box that almost won me over: the Husky cantilever box/organizer. It is also stable when closed, unless the clear plastic cover of the dispenser is breakable. If I didn't like the breakable top and cantilevered toolbox, I would have bought it. If you are looking for something like me, this might be a good choice for you too.
