This module uses the NXP stack KW41Z for Thread and BLE and runs on an IPv6-based networking protocol to communicate on a local wireless mesh network. Thread uses 6LoWPAN, which uses the IEEE 802.15.4 wireless protocol with mesh communication. It is IP-addressable with cloud access and AES encryption. The stack is able to support up to 250 devices in one local network. It is simple to set up and it provides security at the network layer. SPARROW includes an on board chip antenna and is supplied with a development board . An external antenna can be connected to the antenna pad. Simple Usage Dual Mode or Thread Only Power Efficient AES-encryption mode Standard IEEE 802.15.4 Robust Mesh Network Open IPv6 Based Protocol Ideal for devices such as thermostats, sensors, smoke detectors and remote controls Dual-mode-module providing Thread & BLE (KW41Z)

6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks) refers to a communication protocol for transmission of IPv6 packets over energy-saving wireless networks. As a basis for radio communication here thestandard IEEE 802.15.4 (PHY and MAC) is served like it is also used at ZigBee and WirelessHART. Radio links can be realized in the frequency bands 868 and 915 MHz as well as 2.4 GHz. 6LoWPAN is specified by a working group of the IETF. There appropriate proposals have been created, for example, for the compression of IPv6 header (RFC6282). Together with appropriate routing procedures - which are also specified in the IETF - this technology permits the construction of meshed networks consisting of small, wirelessly communicating, low-power devices.Using appropriate gateways they can be integrated into the global IP network - a big step towards the "Internet of Things". The COUA module is a single embedded and cost-effective Sub-1-GHz radio module. With 5,5 mA, the module stands out due to a very low RX current consumption and an even lower sleep current. The radio module is supported by the open source operating system Contiki, which allows for rapid product development on the basis of the wide range of protocols and applications that Contiki offers. All available IOs are routed to the outside, so that various sensor and actuator applications can easily be realized. Small size (15 mm x 15 mm) for SMD mounting 1.8 – 3.8 V supply voltage Ultra low power modes RX 5.5mA, Sleep Mode 185nA Output power:+14dBm Powerful ARM Cortex-M3 128kB Flash/ 20KB SRAM All digital peripheral pins can be routed to any GPIO Supported by the open source platform Contiki/ 6LoWPAN

6LoWPAN IoT Gateway The 6LoWPAN IoT Gateway from WEPTECH is a wireless interface device that functions as a Border Router for a local 6LoWPAN network, connecting a wireless IPv6 network to servers on the Internet. A NAT64 translator is used to convert between the 6LoWPAN IPv6 sensor network protocol and IPv4 used on the Internet. The on-board transceivers provide the flexibility of wireless operation over 2.4GHz or Sub-1GHz ISM bands. CC2538 32MHz ARM Cortex-M3 core, 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 wireless SoC with 512KB Flash memory, 32KB RAM CC1200 868/915MHz IEEE 802.15.4g wireless transceiver 'Plug and Play' NAT64 or native IPv6 (Bridge Mode) Up to 32 x 6LoWPAN Child Nodes Security: AES and SHA Encryption Engine 10Base-T Ethernet connection via Microchip ENC28J60 Ethernet Controller USB 2.0 Virtual COM Port Internal antennas Power supply: +5Vdc via microUSB connector Operating System: Open-Source Contiki (http://www.contiki-os.org/) Firmware update via USB Application: Communication for the Internet of Things (IoT) Note This variant of the 6LoWPAN IoT Gateway is the development version and is supplied without an enclosure. WPAN (IEEE 802.15.4), 6LoWPAN - WEPTECH elektronik 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks) is a protocol which allows Internet Protocol IPv6 data packets to be sent and received over IEEE 802.15.4 compliant wireless networks. It means that low-speed Internet of Things sensor networks can communicate with servers in the Internet 'Cloud'.
