Top 5 Categories of Engineering

Categories of Engineering

Introduction:

Our discussion topic is engineering and its major categories. Suppose any student wants admission in engineering, then merit is also based on the purpose of admission as well as good skills in maths, chemistry, and in computer subjects. This field is totally interlinked with many different categories, such as; mechanics, electronics, manufacturing, designing, building, constructing, operations, etc. Now, we are going for a brief discussion of 5 major categories of engineering.

What is engineering:

Engineering is defined as the study of different aspects of science in which we learn about machines, construction, scientific principles, electronics, chemicals, manufacturing, and processing. Many operations are known as engineering.

Major categories of engineering:

There are five major categories of engineering as follows;

1-Civil engineering

2-Mechanical engineering

3-Chemical engineering

4-Electrical engineering

5-Industrial engineering

These categories are termed major categories of engineering.

Step-by-step discussion of major engineering categories:

Now, we are going to discuss major engineering categories step-by-step;

1-Civil engineering:

It is a branch of engineering in which we study the principle of construction and their derivatives. It includes construction planning of different projects. Civil engineers are helpful in the construction processes of buildings, dams, canals, industries, houses, roads, bridges, and many more. Without civil engineers, the department of construction faces a lack of performance. Civil engineers design the principle of construction. And also they are helpful in building different projects.

Education of civil engineering:

Civil engineers must have an approved degree in civil engineering. It takes around 4-5 years to complete civil engineering studies. After completion of the degree, the person is able to apply for a job in both the government and private sector. It also allows students to specialise in more fields. Civil engineers perform many tasks, such as; they convert the land into many different places through the process of construction. Civil engineering is also useful in the production of electricity by constructing dams.

Job opportunities for civil engineers:

There are many job opportunities for civil engineers, as follows;

  • Construction manager
  • Building manager
  • Structure manager

And many more civil engineers perform many tasks related to construction and planning.

2-Mechanical Engineering:

It is a branch of engineering in which we use the principles of maths and physics together. In this branch of engineering, we learn about how to manufacture, design, analyse, and assemble mechanical systems. In engineering, thermodynamics plays a very important role because the principle of thermodynamics is totally related to the heating and cooling process in the mechanical system. Mechanical engineers also perform tasks like production and designing machinery in many different ways.

Education in Mechanical Engineering:

Mechanical engineers complete the degree of mechanical engineering in 4-5 years; after completing their degree, they will be hired in the field of mechanics. They perform bachelor of engineering and are also termed as Bachelor of Science engineering.

Jobs Opportunities for Mechanical Engineers:

They have many jobs opportunities in the mechanic field, such as;

Mechanical engineers perform tasks such as;

  • Development of mechanical parts
  • Engines of heavy machines

And many more jobs are easily available for mechanical engineers.

3-Chemical Engineering:

Now we are going to discuss chemical engineering, which is the branch of engineering in which we study different things related to chemicals. In chemical engineering, we study the manufacturing process and production process through chemical reactions. Chemical engineers are very helpful because they know how to convert original or raw materials into chemical and useful materials such as in products. They use microorganisms for their processes in laboratories. They are helpful in protecting humans from any danger related to medicines.

Education for Chemical Engineering:

Chemical engineers study deeply about chemicals and their work for raw materials. Chemical engineers complete their degree in chemical engineering, known as; a bachelor of chemical engineering.

Jobs for Chemical Engineers:

There are many jobs for chemical engineers in industries. Chemical engineers convert raw materials into helpful and useful products. They perform jobs in medical industries.

4-Electrical Engineering:

It is a branch of engineering in which we study electronics. In electrical engineering, we study devices, appliances, systems, and plants that work by using electricity. Electromagnetism is also the principle of electrical engineering. This branch of engineering is also divided into many branches, such as; system engineering, radio engineering, and in many more branches. Electrical engineering principles are also helpful in homes as well as in offices, commercially, and also used in many industries.

Education in Electrical Engineering:

If anyone wants to become an electrical engineer, he will study electronics in depth. This study is termed electronic engineering, electrical engineering, and also termed as technical engineering.

Jobs for Electrical Engineers:

Electrical engineers perform jobs such as; supervisor in the management of electrical tools, designing electrical equipment, etc.

5-Industrial Engineering:

In this branch of engineering, we study many complex structures and convert or utilize them in many useful ways. Industrial engineering is useful in industries for manufacturing purposes. Industrial engineering is interlinked with several industries in performing many difficult tasks like development and improving industrial systems.

Education in Industrial Engineering:

Industrial engineers complete their degree in 5 years. They study mathematics and physics.

Jobs for Industrial Engineers:

Industrial engineers perform different jobs; they work in industries as manufacturing managers, improving industrial products, etc.

Wrapping up All Information Together About Engineering Categories:

As we discussed, engineering and its categories play an important role in the whole universe. These categories are useful in many ways like; improving qualities, manufacturing products, protecting the environment from all hazards, providing safety, etc. However, the engineering department is very vast and has many branches and also many sub-branches for better working. Engineering principles are applied in many different ways to improve our environment. The construction process is totally based on civil engineering, and without their help and plan of construction, it seems to be impossible to construct anything. We use electrical engineering to improve our electrical systems and appliances.
