Types of radiators

Radiators are divided into two main types, which are described here.

These are convector Radiators and designer radiators. They are easily available in the market and work for commercial and domestic purposes. Let’s have a look at the details of both of these radiator types. 

Convector radiators

Convector radiators have one tube and metal convection fins. Hot water passes through this tube. You can warm your room very faster and more quickly because these fins conduct heat from tubes and produce heat. These convector radiators have three types which are Single panel, Double panel, and Double panel plus.

Single panel radiators

Single-panel radiators are designed for smaller rooms and bathrooms. These are very affordable and give heat to the smaller area very efficiently. These radiators have convection fins that are attached to the backside of the radiator and have one metal panel. Single panel radiators are also called Type 11 radiators. These radiators are very slim. Therefore, they adjust in small spaces, and they have one layer of convection fins and a single panel. Single-panel radiators produce less heat; if you want to heat a large area, then these are not enough; you have to buy double-panel radiators.

Double panel radiator

Double panel radiators produce higher heat as compared to single panel radiators. They have one metal panel on the front and back sides of the radiators and two layers of convection fins. These are also known as Type 22 radiators. These are useful for large and medium size rooms; therefore, they produce higher heat than single-panel radiators and warm your rooms quickly. Double panel radiators are a budget-friendly option for heating a large area, but these are more expensive than single panel radiators, and they are not useful for smaller rooms. These are not suited for small areas because they have depth because of their convection fins.

Double panel plus radiator

Double panel plus radiators have one metal panel and one convection fin layer on the front and back sides of the radiators. They are also called Type 21 radiators. They have higher heat output than single panel radiators and emit less heat as compared to Type 22 radiators because they have one layer of convection fins. They have efficient heat output and will save money for a long time. So, you can use this radiator for big places,  and they would easily heat the area. 

Vertical designer radiators

These radiators are ideal for higher heat needs, and they also occupy less space. Vertical designer radiators have dual fuel valves, and they are worked by central heating and electricity. These radiators are very modern, stylish, and slim in design. Vertical designer radiators produce higher heat and make your rooms warm quickly. These radiators are more expensive due to their strong feature and stylish design. However, we need pipeline work for an upgrade of these radiators. It mean if the cost is not your issue and your requirement is also higher then these radiators are most suitable for you. 

Column radiators 

Column radiators are attractive and have a traditional style. They have higher power heating and vertical tubes. Column radiators are more efficient. These are available in different colours, finishes, styles and a range of shapes. They are also available in good floor standing. The surface of these radiators becomes very hot, and it’s a risk of burning. Column radiators are thick and not suits for smaller rooms.

Horizontal designer radiators

Horizontal designer radiators are designed for large rooms and bathrooms. They have high heat output. And the horizontal designer has high heat output and has different styles, colours, and sizes. It is very easy to install and less space efficient as compared to vertical models. So, horizontal radiators are advisable for big places and areas where more heat is required. 

Towel radiators

Towel radiators have slim designs and have a very stylish look. They are commonly used for drying wet towels and heating your bathrooms. These are available in various sizes as per the customer’s needs. One point is considerable if you have small kids, then it will be risky because its surface becomes very hot. So, you need to place them above the height of the kids. It is difficult to move these radiators because they need pipeline work.
