How to recycle electronic gadgets?

Electronic Gadgets

Why do we Need to Recycle Electronic Gadgets?

In this passage, we will discuss and learn how we recycle electronic gadgets. We can reuse electronic waste material. It is a complete process of shredding electronic waste into small pieces and could be reused in new electronic appliances. Pollution, other wastes, and electronic wastes mix and perform very effective roles in creating pollution. Especially air pollution and land pollution enhance because of these wastes. Electronic wastes have toxic materials such as beryllium, lead, and cadmium. These materials are very harmful to us as well as to the atmosphere. Electronic waste is very harmful to us. If we use this process, we can reduce waste material.

What are the Demerits of not Following the Recycling Process?

Moreover, when electronic materials convert into new materials, waste reduction takes place. However, this is also very helpful to use fully for our environment. However, there are a few demerits of recycling e-waste without proper process, and those are discussed in detail below.

Cause of UV Radiation

If we do not follow the recycling process, it directly affects ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet radiations are very harmful to human skin; it is especially a cause of skin and lung cancer. However,  electronic gadgets are a big cause of ultra-radiation if it not recycled as per the defined process.

Badly Impact the Water and Soil

When this toxic material mixes with the atmosphere, they pollute the soil, and this soil mix with air and water after this. It directly affects human health. Here the question arises how we protect our environment from this harmful material?

Steps that Need to be Taken Prior to Recycling the Electronic Waste

First Step – is the Collection of Electronic Waste

In the first step, the government should arrange a specific firm and individuals. Who works only to collect electronic waste from garbage and from home. Sometimes shopkeepers also collect electronic gadgets on a large scale, for example, air conditioners, refrigerators, and television.

Second Step – Categorization of Electronic Waste

Shopkeepers buy these things and then sell their parts and sometimes refine these things and then sale in the market. In this process, electronic waste size will reduce.

Step Three – Elimination of Harmful Materials

Now, if the shopkeepers find the electronic machine is a total waste, then it is required to eliminate all the harmful materials before disposing of the rest in landfills.

Forth Step – Separation of Reusable Parts

Now, these eliminated parts can be recycled. A lot of materials will be used to make up our computers and mobile phones. It is a non-renewable but relatively common part that is present in similar devices. Everywhere many industries use lithium on a very big scale. This material; is mostly used in rechargeable batteries for electric cars and buses. This lithium, after recycling available in the market. Many companies buy this for batteries and electric vehicles.

How is Electronics Waste Pollution Putting Lines at Risk?

Now, if we will talk about recycling, then its process is very complicated. Then it is also a complete and step-by-step process. Here are a few steps that are taken prior to recycling.

Sorting the E-Waste

The first step is manual sorting. Once the electronic waste is collected and transported to the recycling facilities, workers sort the electronic waste into categories according to its types.

Rechecking Phase

Workers check the devices to see if a few parts are functional, so they reuse them. But another damaged electronic waste left is sent to recycling processing.

How to Recycle Electronic Waste?

It is a process that takes a lot of time and effort; however, some sort of heavy machinery is also required for recycling the e-waste.

  1. The electronic waste must be thrown into a machine. These machines convert electronic waste into small pieces. This process is called manufacturing. In this process, all potentially hazardous materials are removed from electronic devices. It will destroy the machine and environment also.
  2. The waste material, metals, and valuable parts are separated from the waste.
  3. In the next step, the magnet is used to gain the iron sheet that is stuck with the magnet.
  4. After separation, the metals and iron remaining main materials are called plastic.
  5. This plastic is then processed for melting so that it would be used for new products. This process is a very important process for that skillful person is required.

However, it is found that low-level manual workers are exposed to the toxic substance. And it would have a bad impact on the health of the electricians. Another problem of the recycling industry is that it is only 10 to 60 chemical elements that are worthless after recycling. However, electronic waste would provide only 20 to 40 percent gold, silver, platinum, cobalt, tin, lead, copper, aluminum, and lead after the process of recycling.

The Reasons to Recycle the Electronic Waste

Recycling electronic waste is very important. This process safe us from toxic material. However,  it is also very useful for many industries as they get the raw-material for new appliances easily. The world is facing a big problem with electronic waste. All and sundry know that electronics are present everywhere, from smartphones and computers to kitchenware. Every year 5 billion mobile phones will be thrown away.

“Global electronic waste will heavier more than the Great Wall of China.”

Household appliances across the EU on an average of 74 electronic products, 17 unused in our closets; most of these small products are headphones and smartphones. These things and items take massive volumes. So, it is recommended to whether use these electronics or donate them if you do not have any plan to reuse them in the near future.

The Final Thoughts

So, the above-discussed facts illustrate that e-waste should be managed as well as recycled with a proper process. However, if the proper recycling process is not taken, then it would badly impact the world environment, which would also cause a lot of health and environmental issues. So, it is advised to use certain recommendations and go for the proper recycling process.
