I thought it would be a sloppy plastic fan, but it turned out to be true. The quality of the plastic (PVC?) is very solid and has a very good finish. It is very soft to the touch and very resistant. The fan itself is quiet and can draw in/filter smoke when placed remotely. I found that using a fan about 1 foot away from the work area captured the smoke perfectly. It also has a nice 3 pin mains socket and an on/off switch... Three filters are also included in the package. Finally, minor issues with my device were resolved quickly and without hassle by Weller's customer service staff. Very good C/S. I recommend this welding fume absorber.
