The Festo SIEN-M8B-PS-K-L is a small inductive proximity sensor designed to detect metal objects at close range. It is commonly used in automation systems where space is limited and reliable position feedback is required. With a 25 mm body length and M8 threaded housing, it fits easily into compact machines, fixtures, and control assemblies. This sensor operates on a 10 to 30 V DC supply and uses a PNP normally open output, making it compatible with most PLC and control inputs used in industrial environments.
The sensor detects the presence of metal without physical contact. When a metal target enters the sensing range, the output switches, allowing the control system to register position or movement. Because there is no mechanical contact, wear is minimal and long-term reliability is improved. It is mainly used for simple on/off detection tasks where consistency matters more than long sensing distance.
The SIEN-M8B-PS-K-L is straightforward to install and wire. Once mounted and powered, it works without calibration or adjustment in most standard applications.
The housing meets IP65 and IP67 standards, which means it can withstand dust, moisture, and wash-down conditions commonly found on factory floors. It is suitable for continuous operation in production environments without frequent maintenance.
