Application of Combination Square

Combination squares are found in different ranges in terms of shape and size, and the distinction between them relies on the model. They are designed for various purposes; few of them work with general-purpose applications, while others are designed to work with special means of precise application. An accurate size can be determined by using combination squares. Range in sizes of blades exists from 4 to 24 inches. A high-quality combination square may have dual heads and is interchangeable. In addition, it may have finely ground bearing surfaces. In many higher-level applications, precision is the prime goal for the project.

I've been looking at this combined square for a long time. I used 2 vintage Stanley models that I inherited from my grandfather, as well as a newer Stanley that my children gave me a few years ago. They work, but they have a certain slope and it can be frustrating to set very fine grades. Now that I've finally made the leap to the Starrett, I've wondered why I waited so long. Yes, it's not cheap, but the quality and accuracy are remarkable. It's very easy to make fine adjustments, there is no sloping and the satin finish makes it easy to see the measurement marks. I use my combo squares for machine settings and for marking woodwork on the parts I build. I invested in the 24" blade to go along with this, as I often need to make marks between 12 and 24". Easily swap out for a 12" blade. A great tool for measuring and marking in the shop.
