An input device is known as a navigation switch, or joystick, sometimes known as a flying stick, consisting of a stick that pivots on a base and communicates its angle or direction to the device it is controlling. In the cockpit of many commercial and military aircraft, a joystick—also referred to as the control column—serves as the primary center or side stick. It frequently features additional switches to regulate different parts of the flight of the aircraft.
Versatile Uses of Navigation Switches, Joystick
In many industrial and manufacturing applications, including cranes, assembly lines, forestry equipment, mining vehicles, and excavators, the use of joysticks has recently become widespread. In fact, the use of such joysticks is so in-demand that in almost all contemporary hydraulic control systems, they have largely supplanted the conventional mechanical control lever. Additionally, most remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) need at least one joystick to drive the vehicle, onboard cameras, sensors, and/or manipulators.

Joystick Switch Installation
A manually controlled electromechanical switch having one or more sets of electrical contacts linked to external circuits is the most common type of switch.
