Greenlee, one of the leading manufacturers of cable preparation & termination, cable pulling & fishing tools, and test & measurement devices, established in 1862 by the Greenlee brothers in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The company's story started in Pennsylvania when Edmund Greenlee developed a machine for wood barrel-making in his hometown Crawford County in western Pennsylvania. Soon after that, the first ever oil well was drilled in western Pennsylvania in 1859, and the demand for barrels to ship the oil in went sky high, and the twin sons of Edmund Greenlee, Robert, and Ralph Greenlee, devoted their father’s machine for manufacturing wood barrels that led the company to great success. In 1862, the twin brothers shifted to Chicago, Illinois, and with their father’s blessings, they continued to produce wood barrels, and there they founded the company with the name Greenlee Bros.
