What are Data Acquisition and DAC?

A data acquisition system is abbreviated as DAS or DAQ. They are data acquisition ICs that are typically used to measure analog signals and transform them back into digital information. What are Data Acquisition ICs used for?

It is common to practice processing sensor signal output using data acquisition ICs. The signal can be transformed into digital using data acquisition systems so that the host system can utilize it. An analog front-end (AFE) signal conditioning circuit and an analog-to-digital converter are combined in a single package by a data acquisition integrated circuit (IC) to give full analog-to-digital conversion functionality. Because raw input signals are frequently unsuitable for processing by the analog-to-digital converter, a signal conditioning circuitry prepares the analog input for processing. Examples of conditioning circuitry that could be built into the device include filtering, amplification, isolation, and attenuation.

What is the Purpose of the Digital Acquisition IC for Signal Conversion?

A data acquisition system offers a compact solution for signal conversion. It mitigates the circuitry that is added to them externally. The device count is lower as compared to the use of single analog to Digital Converters with standalone signal conditioning circuits.
