What are Timer Circuits?

A timer circuit is utilized in the electronic component for controlling and automating one or more sequences of actions in the embedded system. The Timer Circuit functions by varying the circuit from its current phase to another prior to chasing the parameter set.

Types of Timer Circuits:

  • The 555 Timers

The most widely used type of timer circuit is the 555 timer, and this timer circuit is composed of an eight-pin dual in-line package consisting of 25 or more transistors, 16 resistors, and two diodes. They are working in the form of either of the ones' modules, such as  an astable or monostable timer.

  • Monostable Timer

Commonly referred to as a one-shot timer, this timer keeps active for a certain length of time and then switches off. The processing time begins when the timer gets switched on.

  • Astable Timer

The astable timer component is switched on to offer a constant on/off electrical output. The timer is typically installed in the system to make use of LED Flashing, and the potential for flashing is characterized by the capacitor available in the circuit.

Where is the Timer Circuit used?

The timer circuit is being used in a wide range of applications that perform a basic function, like frequently turning a light on and off during a predetermined period to produce a flashing light or lighting sequence. The creation of musical notes at a specific frequency is another application for timer circuits.
