Panel Indicators, Pilot Lights

Panel indicators are optoelectronic devices that emit light to indicate the operating condition of an appliance or a machine. There are many other terminologies used for this product; therefore, it can sometimes get confusing to get the concept of it and source an item. These terminologies include:

• Signal lamps
• Signal lights
• Indicator lights
• Indicators
• Panel indicators
• Pilot lights

All of these terms describe a light installed on a piece of electrical equipment to signal that the equipment or device is functioning well. The light sources used for indicators are mainly LEDs or Neon Lamps. Both of them are strong and durable and can be used in a variety of applications. 

LEDs

LEDs or light-emitting diodes are known to have a long service life and became popular primarily because of their low power consumption properties. However, panel-mounted LEDs are initially more expensive compared to neon lights. But compared, their long operational life justifies the initial price of LEDs. 

Neon

Neon lamps are particularly used in applications with high voltage requirements of 110volt AC, 220volt AC, and DC applications in addition to 90 volts. This makes neon lights a more preferred option for signaling the mains operations. However, they have less brightness and do not come in various colors like LEDs. They also do not have a long operational life as LEDs. 

Pilot Light and its Importance

Have you disapproved of an internal combustion machine and were told to check the pilot light? We should investigate pilot lights, their significance, and what to do when one goes out on your apparatus.

A pilot light is a little fire kept lit in specific gas-terminated machines like your heater, water warmer, and gas chimney. When you turn on your machine, gas is delivered to the primary burner, and the pilot light lights that gas to turn on your apparatus and give heat.

Reason Why a Pilot Light May Keep Going Out

Occasionally, pilot lights will go out because of drafts or unfortunate ventilation. Yet, if your pilot light goes out frequently, you could dislike the thermocouple on your machine.

A thermocouple is a little copper bar that keeps gas from spilling into your home when the pilot light goes out. When there is no fire to warm the thermocouple, it chills off and closes the gas valve on your machine. A defective thermocouple can stifle a pilot light or keep the pilot light from igniting altogether. Assuming that you suspect an issue with your thermocouple, reaching the professionals is ideal.

Panel Mount LED Indicators

Panel mount LED indicators are durable and have a long functioning life. You can fasten them to a flat surface or panel. This is usually achieved by threading a light through a hole in the panel and then screwing it into position. However, sometimes they are available in pre-mounted forms. Panel-mounted LEDs are light indicators that you can use in various situations. They are commonly used in traffic lights and vehicle lights as well. Panel-mount LED indicators are preferred when you require the light to come out from the front of the device, which is usually for aesthetic reasons. 

With such benefits, they have been commonly used in many applications and with many devices effectively indicating when it is needed.
