UV LEDs

UV LEDs represent Ultraviolet Light-emitting diodes. This Led generates Light in the VU spectrum that is actually less than 400 nm. UV light can be seen with naked eyes and is usually found in color bluey purple.

These LEDs light-generating diodes, which are solid-state equipment, generate Light when electrical current is permitted to flow from the positive terminal of the circuit to the negative side. These LEDs are manufactured to generate a definite narrow range of Ultraviolet wavelength.

Differences between traditional UV lamps and UV led sources

Traditional arc lamps make use of an electric arc in the inner side of the mercury gas to alert atoms which then spoil and produce photons. Microwave lamps excite the gas through a microwave emitting process. At the same time, UV LEDs semiconductors produce a narrow bandwidth of energy at the junction. In order to dope semiconductors, positive holes integrate with negative electrons when voltage is applied. 

These LEDs are manufactured in a wide range of power levels and come in single chip-on-board, strip, and complete light source module forms. The majority of these products are available in bulk. However, the costs are higher for lower wavelengths. This is because the semiconductors in the lower wavelengths are more expensive than those in the upper UVC range.
