What are Flow Controllers?

  • Mass Flow Controllers- Mass flow controllers are used to controlling the flow rate of gases accurately. They measure the mass flow rate of a gas by detecting the temperature difference caused by the cooling effect of the gas as it flows through the sensor. They are commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing, gas chromatography, and other high-precision applications.
  • Volumetric Flow Controllers- Volumetric flow controllers control the flow rate of liquids or gases by measuring the volume of the fluid or gas flowing through the system. They are often used in water treatment, HVAC systems, and fuel cells.
  • Pressure Flow Controllers- Pressure flow controllers use pressure regulators to maintain a constant flow rate. They work by adjusting the pressure upstream of the flow controller to keep the downstream pressure constant, thus regulating the flow rate. They are used in applications such as chemical processing and gas distribution.
  • Thermal Flow Controllers- Thermal flow controllers measure the flow rate of fluids by detecting the cooling effect caused by the fluid as it flows through the sensor. They are commonly used in wastewater treatment, food and beverage production, and chemical processing.

How do Flow Controllers Work?

Flow controllers work by regulating the pressure or valve opening in the system. When the flow rate needs to be increased, the valve opens up, or the pressure increases, allowing more fluid or gas to flow through the system. Conversely, when the flow rate needs to be decreased, the valve closes, or the pressure is reduced, reducing the flow rate.
