Racks
Racks are designed for organising various equipment based on a standardised set of assemblies that make space in an organised and mechanically secured fashion. They include open frame and enclosed racks and are available in floor standing, wall mount, console, and other styles. Racks comprise two or four mounting rails (vertical) and supporting frameworks, typically made of steel or aluminium, to keep the rails in position. Furthermore, they also feature holes to mount rack equipment with screws.
Rack Units:
The rack’s height is divided into standardized segments known as rack units. Though the nominal width of 19-inch racks is always the same, the depth and height of rack units vary.
Types of Racks:
There are three primary racks: open frame racks, rack enclosures, and wall-mount racks.

Open frame racks:
They are just open frames with mounting rails without sides or doors, typically ideal for situations where the rack does not require controlled airflow or provide physical security. Open frame racks are ideal for cabinets and distribution frame applications with high voltage lines as they provide more open space for easy cable access and management.

Rack enclosures:
These feature removable front and rear doors, side panels, and four adjustable vertical mounting rails. Front and rear doors are often vented to promote sufficient front-to-rear airflow through the installation. Rack enclosures are ideal for heavier, hotter equipment and applications that require more power per rack.

Wall-mount racks:
These racks are designed to be wall-mounted, saving floor space, and are perfect for hard-to-reach areas. They can be an open frame rack or a closed cabinet that is usually smaller than standing on the ground and cannot support much weight. They can be adapted for floor applications by adding casters.
